Bakken Expansion Pipeline, also known as Enbridge Line 26 Oil Pipeline or the Portal Reversal Expansion Project (PREP), is a crude oil and liquids pipeline in the USA and Canada.

Location

The pipeline runs from Berthold, North Dakota to Enbridge's Steelman Terminal in Steelman, Saskatchewan and ending in Cromer, Manitoba where it connects with Enbridge’s mainline system.

Background

Line 26 is a 12- and 16-inch diameter crude oil pipeline. The pipeline originally transported Canadian oil south to the USA. In 2011, Enbridge reversed the pipeline to transport Bakken crude from Berthold, North Dakota to its Steelman terminal in Steelman, Saskatchewan, where it links to Cromer, Manitoba, the site of Enbridge’s mainline system.

Enbridge's Bakken Expansion Pipeline was approved by the board in December 2011 and began operations in April 2013.
