Background

The Lilyvale coal project is a proposed underground coal mine near Emerald, Queensland, Australia. The project is a joint venture between Stanmore Resources (85%) and Bowen Coking Coal (15%).[2]

The project remains listed on the Stanmore and Bowen Coking Coal websites as of March 2023, but with no news of active development, it appears to be shelved. The Lilyvale project is located 25 kilometers north-east of Emerald in Queensland’s Bowen Basin and is a neighbor to Rio Tinto’s Kestrel mine, and to BHP Mitsubishi Alliance’s Gregory Crinum mine.[3]
