Background

Two companies, Luoyang Longyu Yidian Co., Ltd. and Luoyang Longyu Hongguang Electric Power Co., Ltd., were approved by the Henan Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and the Luoyang Industrial and Commercial Bureau. The related project has been referred to as the Longyu Yidian (Hongguang) plant and was reportedly five 57.5 MW steam turbine generator units.[1]

In 2020, a provincial pledge noted all non-CHP (Combined Heat and Power), non-captive coal power units under 300 MW could be shutdown by the end of 2020, meaning the five units could be retired.[2] However, it appeared that at least two of the power station's units (55 MW each) may have been upgraded to CHP as part Luoyang City's 2019 air pollution prevention plans, meaning they likely avoided shut-down.[3]
