Background

The project is not mentioned on the GMR Energy website, however a Terms of Reference (ToR) was issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forests for the project on April 27, 2010.

The proposal is for setting up of 9 X 700 MW (6300) coal-based power plant at Ontimavadi village. The land requirement is about 2700 acres. Domestic coal and imported coal in the ratio 70:30 will be used as fuel.

As of 2014 the project is not mentioned on the GMR Energy website, and has not received an environmental clearance permit, and appears to have been cancelled.
