Background

Shandong Yida cogen power station was a proposed four-unit coal-fired power station totaling what was initially estimated to be 110 MW, sponsored by Rizhao Shengyu Trade Company. The four units were permitted in 2017. Units 1-2 were under construction as of 2017.[1] Satellite photos show units 1-2 began operating in 2019.

The company was granted new electricity generation license for units 3 and 4, reported as 15 MW and 24 MW respectively. This news was presumed to mean the units were operating.[2][3]

The power station's 15 MW Unit 3 was reportedly retired in 2022.[4]
