Background

The Antigua LNG terminal is a small import terminal designed to receive and regasify LNG for use in a 46 MW power plant equipped with dual-fuel Wärtsilä engines and operated by Antigua Power on the Crabbs Peninsula in Antigua.[1][4] The gas-to-power project was announced in 2021 as a joint venture between US-based Eagle LNG Partners and Antigua Power Co Ltd.[3][5] Gas for the project was to be shipped from Eagle LNG's facilities in Jacksonville, Florida.[1][3]

As of July 2023, capacity details and commissioning timeline for the LNG terminal remained sketchy, but the power plant was expected to begin commercial operations in the second half of 2023.[2][4][7]
