Gersteinwerk power station is an operating power station of at least 987-megawatts (MW) in Werne, Unna, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as Werne Gerstein Block K power station.

Background
As of November 2019, Gersteinwerk power station had seven gas-fired generating units with a total of 1,342 MW of generating capacity; one gas-fired unit (Block I2) was mothballed (Vorläufig Stillgelegt).[5]
Gersteinwerk power station previously had one coal-fired unit with a capacity of 665.5 MW. The plant was completed in 1984, and is owned by RWE. The block includes a 112-MW gas turbine in topping configuration.[6]
The coal plant was planned for decommissioning in 2017.[7] In 2015 it was announced that the decommissioning date was postponed to 2019.[8] The coal-fired Block K was disconnected from the grid and shut down on March 29, 2019.[9][10]
The June 2021 "Kraftwerksstilllegungsliste der Bundesnetzagentur" lists the steam portions of Units F2, G2 and I2 as temporarily shut down, and K2 as retired.[11]
As of October 28, 2021, Gersteinwerk F and Gersteinwerk G were listed as "safety reserve on standby" and not currently generating electricity according to RWE's Transparency offensive.[12]
