Background
Puyang Linzhou Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. was set to be privatized in 2009 through purchase by Fengbao Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., but thousands of workers protested arguing they had not received fair pay, thus forcing the deal to be called off. The All-China Federation of Trade Unions posted a notice at the time expressing that a lack of transparency had caused the protests by making workers suspicious. The notice also stated that corporate restructuring plans need express approval from workers.[1]
Shanghai Baoye Group Co., Ltd. and Linzhou Lin Steel Casting Pipe Technology Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony for the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract of the Linzhou Lin Steel annual 450,000-ton food-grade high-end ductile iron pipe project, marking the construction of the largest single-unit ductile iron pipe production workshop in Asia.[2]
