Background

The Dos Bocas power station originally had a capacity of 452 MW, comprising two combined cycle blocks of 226 MW each.[9] CFE reportedly planned to retire one of the blocks in 2015[10], but a 2018 government report still listed the plant's capacity at 452 MW.[11] In 2020, CFE noted that 226 MW of Dos Bocas' production remained vital to national energy supply despite high costs of operation.[12] As of September 2020, plans called for the entire plant to be retired once the new Dos Bocas II power station begins commercial operations.[13]
