Background

Construction began on the Guillermo Brown power station in 2013 for approximately $900 million; 70% of which was financed by the state.[9] The power station runs on generation equipment from Siemens.[10] The 300 MW gas-fired steam turbine was added at the cost of $350 million and was completed in 2017.[11] The project was impacted by the June 2021 reversal of privatizations decreed by articles 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 of Decree 882/2017.[12]
