Background on Project

As of 2013, China Datang and EDF Group are building a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW in Jiangxi Province. The plant is scheduled to be completed in 2015.[2][3][4]

Unit 1 was completed in August 2015,[5] and unit 2 in April 2016.[6]

Expansion

Plans for an additional two units, units 3-4 of 1,000 MW each, appear in the Jiangxi Province Development Plan of the Railway Economic Belt (2019-2025), released in October 2019.[7]

With no further known developments on the proposed expansion, plans appeared shelved.

However, by 2022, the company and the local government pushed this project forward.[8] On Oct 28, 2022, the Deputy Party Secretary from China Datang announced the beginning of the expansion of Fuzhou Power Station, two units of 1,000 MW each.[9][10]
