Background

The Cleopatra Building Materials Industries Cement Plant in Minya governorate began operations in 1989. It produces under half a million tonnes of white cement annually, using the pure limestone deposits in the area.[3] Until 2018, the plant was part of the Helwan Cement Company before it was spun off into an independent venture.[4]
