Map of Ghana with existing and planned transmission lines greater than 69 kV, as of 2019. Existing and planned transmission tends to be concentrated in the south and west. Planned lines will connect Ghana to the grids of Togo, Burkina Faso, and Cote d'Ivoire. The map also has a color key denoting which transmission technology type best suits different areas of the country. Generally, large population centers tend to be on-grid, remote communities in the east would benefit from mini-grids, and rural communities in the north and west would be best suited for stand-alone systems.
