A stacked column chart illustrating the prospective capacity of eight generation types for 14 U.S. Atlantic states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia. No coal generation is in-development, while oil and gas planning is minimal. In their place, renewable energy, particularly offshore wind and solar, make up the majority of proposed electricity projects with more than 33 GW and 22 GW in development, respectively.

The chart uses data from Global Energy Monitor’s power sector trackers, as of April 2024.
