Background
The first two coal-fired units of Shaanxi Fugu Qingshuichuan power station, totaling 600 MW, were brought online in 2008. The plant is owned by Shaanxi Provincial Investment Group (51%) and Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group (49%).[5]
Proposed expansion
In 2014 it was reported there are plans to add 4 x 1,000 MW ultra-supercritical units at this plant, units 3-6.[6]
Units 3-4
Units 3-4 are planned for operation in 2015,[7] later pushed to 2018.[8]
Unit 3 was connected to to the grid in September 2018,[9] and commissioned in May 2019.[10] Unit 4 was connected to the grid in October 2018,[11] and commissioned in March 2019.[12]
Units 5-6
Plans for an additional 2 x 1,000 MW (units 5-6) are being assessed.[13][8]
The project was permitted in March 2020.[14]
Construction began in March 2021.[15]
