Background

According to PT Pertamina Gas, the subsidiary of PGN Persero that will operate the pipeline, construction was 84% complete as of August 2017.[1] In January 2019 the head of PT Pertamina stated that the company planned to complete the pipeline in 2019.[7] In October 2019 Pertamina announced that the pipeline was 98.5% complete.[8] Construction was completed in March 2020 but the pipeline was still waiting for onstream gas to begin operating.[9] In a July 2021 press release, the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry said that the pipeline as well as the onstream gas fields in Kepodang and Jambaran Tiung Baru were ready to operate.[3][2] However, there was no confirmation about when the operation would begin. In July 2021 the pipeline's total cost was put at USD$276 million.[10]

The National Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution Master Plan (2022-2031), published by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, mentions the pipeline in the list of existing transmission pipelines. [6]
