Background

The first two coal-fired units of the Guangdong Huilai power station, totaling 1,200 MW, were brought online in 2007. The plant was owned by Guangdong Yudean Group.[1]

The power station's units 3 and 4 (1,000 MW each) were completed in 2013, expanding the power station from 1,200 MW to 3,200 MW.[2][3][4][5]

On October 11, 2022, two more units, Units 5 and 6 (1,000 MW each), were permitted.[6]

In August 2023, the 2 x 1,000 MW Phase III expansion entered construction.[7]
