Jiuquan power station (华能酒泉热电) is an operating power station of at least 660-megawatts (MW) in Xiaoshu Dist - Jiuquan City, Jiuquan, Gansu, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating.

Background
The two existing coal-fired units of Jiuquan power station, totaling 660 MW, were brought online in 2011. It is supplying heat to 13 million square meters of construction in Jiuquan city.[1]The plant is owned by National Energy Investment Group.[2][3] The project was approved for credit of 1.45 billion yuan.[4] [5]
Description of Expansion
The designed capacity of second and third phases of Jiuquan power station is 2000MW each. [6][7]
However, there is no news of this expansion, and it appears that it was never pursued or developed.
Ownership
On August 28, 2017, China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) announced that China Guodian Corporation and Shenhua Group will be jointly restructured. Shenhua Group will become China National Energy Investment Group and will absorb China Guodian Corporation. It will be the largest power company in the world by installed capacity, as well as the world's largest coal producer.[8][9] The merger was completed on November 28, 2017.[10]
In May 2020, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) began a pilot project which is allowing each of the five Central SOEs, central government-owned power giants presenting only in one province or autonomous region in 5 northwest provinces and autonomous regions. It is an effort by SASAC to improve the financial performance of the coal power companies in these 5 provinces and Autonomous regions. According to SASAC's arrangement, China Huaneng presents in Gansu. China Huadian leads Xinjiang. China Datang is in Shaanxi except those power companies belonging to China Energy Group. SPIC is in Qinghai. China Energy Group leads Ningxia. [11][12] By the end of 2020, 10 coal power stations in Gansu have completed the transition. [13][14]
Lanzhou Fanping Power Station transferred its ownership to China Huaneng in February 2021.[15]
