Background on Plant

Guodian Suqian Power Plant is a 2 x 135 MW coal-fired power plant in Yangbei, Sucheng. It is owned by Guodian Suqian Thermal Power Co. of China's National Energy Investment Group. The units were commissioned in 2005. However, the units were never permitted for construction,[1][2] and were shut down in 2019.[3]

Stage II

Guodian Suqian Thermal Power Co. has proposed a stage II at the power plant of 2 x 660 MW.[4]

The units were permitted in October 2015.[5]

Planet satellite photos from July 2017 to April 2018 show significant construction progress.

Unit 3 was commissioned on December 31, 2018.[6]

Unit 4 was commissioned on June 4, 2019.[7]

Ownership
