Jiangling power station (江陵发电厂) is an operating power station of at least 1980-megawatts (MW) in Majiazhai Town, Jiangling, Jingzhou, Hubei, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as 湖北能源江陵发电厂 (Phase II Unit 3 & 4), 湖北能源江陵电厂二期扩建（2×660MW）工程项目, 华电江陵发电厂 (Phase I Unit 1 & 2).

Background on Project
In 2013, China Huadian said it was planning to build a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total planned capacity of 3,320 MW in Hubei Province.[6]
Units 1 & 2
The first two 660 MW units of the plant were initially scheduled to begin construction in 2014.[7][8]
The two units were permitted for construction in June 2015,[9] and began construction in September 2015. They are planned for completion in 2017.[10]
Unit 1 was commissioned on December 31, 2017.[11]
July 2017: Unit 2 postponed by government
In July 2017, the NEA released the "Guideline of Supply-Side Reform of the Coal Power Bubble". The Guideline included a draft list which slowed down or halted 185 coal-burning units across 21 provinces, totaling 107 GW. 114 coal units (65 GW) are ordered to slow down the construction progress during 2017 to 2020, and are not allowed to connect to the grid in 2017. In addition, 71 coal units (42 GW) were halted indefinitely for regulation violations. The list partly overlapped with the projects listed in the January NEA letter to 13 provinces.[12]
Jiangling power station Unit 2 is among the postponed coal-burning units,[12] and also appeared on an updated list of postponed projects released in September 2017.[13]
August 2018: Unit 2 commissioned
Unit 2 was commissioned in August 2018.[14]
Units 3 & 4
2016: Shelved by Nationwide Restrictions
Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled.

2022: Revived
On November 2, 2022, two units known as the Hubei Energy Jiangling Power Plant Phase II Expansion (2×660MW) Project were permitted.[15] Units 3 & 4 are owned by Hubei Energy Group Co., Ltd.
In March 2025, Phase II Unit 3 cooling tower topped out and Unit 4 turbine hall completed roofing[16]. Transformer installation occurred in April 2025[17]. Boiler hydrostatic test passed in July 2025[18]. Generator stator placement completed in August 2025[19]. Unit 3 generator rotor placement occurred in September 2025[20]. Unit 3 synchronized to grid in December 2025[21].
In February 2026, Unit 3 completed 168-hour trial run[22]. Heating engineering bidding was announced in March 2026, with contract awarded in April 2026[23][24].
Boiler steel frame placement for Phase II Unit 4 occurred in August 2024, and beam placement in February 2025[25][26]. Generator stator hoisting completed in October 2025[27]. Unit 4 synchronization to grid occurred in May 2026[28]. Commercial operation achieved in July 2026 after 168-hour trial run[29].
