Background

Xinhua power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 530 MW.[3] It began operating in 1973. Units 1-4 were oil-fired and have been retired. The currently operating two units were completed in 1979 and 2005.[4] 200 MW unit 5 was transferred from oil-fired to coal fired in 1993. [5]The power plant is owned by China Huaneng (70%) and Heilongjiang SASAC (30%).[6]

Units 1-2 (2 x 50 MW) retired in 2006.[7]
