Background
The proposed Iraq–Oman oil pipeline is an early-stage strategic concept under which Iraq would export crude from its southern oilfields to Oman’s Duqm port on the Gulf of Oman, aiming to diversify export routes. Current agreements focus first on developing large crude storage and export facilities at Duqm, with a long, technically complex pipeline—either offshore across the Gulf or onshore via Kuwait—still under feasibility study.[1][3][4][5]
