Qinhuangdao power station (京能秦皇岛热电) is an operating power station of at least 700-megawatts (MW) in Xiaxvgezhuang, Funing District, Qinhuangdao, Hebei, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as 中煤能秦皇岛热电二期.

Background on Project
In April 2015 the Hebei Development Commission approved a request by Jingneng Power to begin preparatory work on a 700 MW cogeneration coal plant for the city of Qinhuangdao.[4]
The project was permitted in December 2016.[5] It is started construction in the end of 2017.[6][7]
Satellite photos from Planet show construction progress from July 2017 to April 2018, and from December 2017 to October 2019.
Unit 1 was commissioned in December 2019.[8]
Unit 2 was commissioned in April 2020.[9]
In June 2023, a 2 x 660 MW Phase II expansion was approved at the power station. The units would use ultra-supercritical technology.[10][11]
Construction for Phase II Units 3 and 4 has progressed. In 2024, the project was included in Hebei's key projects list and in August, an ownership agreement was announced between Jingneng Power and Zhongmei Power.[12][13]
In 2025, major equipment contracts were awarded, and the project’s EPC contract saw progress.[14] A groundbreaking ceremony was held in March, and the first concrete pour occurred in June.[15][16] Throughout the year, various milestones were met, including boiler steel framing and board beam lifting.[17]
In 2026, roof sealing and other final construction activities continued.[18] Phase I Units 1 and 2 were commissioned earlier.[19]
