Qinhuangdao power station (京能秦皇岛热电) is an operating power station of at least 700-megawatts (MW) in Xiaxvgezhuang, Funing District, Qinhuangdao, Hebei, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as 京能秦皇岛热电二期.

Background on Project

In April 2015 the Hebei Development Commission approved a request by Jingneng Power to begin preparatory work on a 700 MW cogeneration coal plant for the city of Qinhuangdao.[1]

The project was permitted in December 2016.[2] It is started construction in the end of 2017.[3][4]

Satellite photos from Planet show construction progress from July 2017 to April 2018, and from December 2017 to October 2019.

Unit 1 was commissioned in December 2019.[5]

Unit 2 was commissioned in April 2020.[6]

In June 2023, a 2 x 660 MW Phase II expansion was approved at the power station. The units would use ultra-supercritical technology.[7][8]
