LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Chhatak Cement Plant (লাফার্জহোলসিম সুনামগঞ্জ সিমেন্ট প্ল্যান্ট (Bangla)), also known as Surma Cement Plant, is an integrated cement plant operating in Chhatak, Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Background
LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited, the only cross border commercial venture between Bangladesh and India, was incorporated in Bangladesh on November 11, 1997. In February 2017, the Company has changed its name to “LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited (LHBL)” from “Lafarge Surma Cement Limited” following the merger of Lafarge Surma Cement (Bangladesh) Ltd. and Holcim Cement (Bangladesh) Ltd. In January 2018, the Company completed the acquisition of 100% shares of Holcim Cement (Bangladesh) Limited (HBL) with the remittance of BDT 5,047.82 million.[3][4]
The company operates manufacturing plants at Sunamganj, Narayangong and Mongla in Bangladesh. These include this fully integrated cement plant at Sunamganj in Chhatak, and three grinding plants: Meghnaghat 1, Meghnaghat 2 and Mongla Plants.[4] All the mills are closed circuit ball mills.[3]
The Chhatak cement plant is notable as one of the only integrated cement plants in Bangladesh, which produces millions of tonnes per year of cement using imported clinker, but has less than two million tonnes of clinker production capacity. Of that, 1.3 million tonnes of clinker capacity are at the Chhatak plant.[5]
The Chhatak plant benefits from the world's longest cross-border conveyor belt, stretching 17 kilometers from India, which supplies the limestone needed for clinker production.[6]
