Background

In 2023, owner Heidelberg Materials announced that it would be installing a carbon capture and liquefaction plant at the Lengfurt cement plant. The carbon capture system would allow for the capture of 70,000 tonnes per year of carbon dioxide and is planned for commissioning in 2025. The captured CO2 is planned to be used in the chemicals, food and beverages industries.
