Background

In 2019, it was reported that coal-fired power generating units in the region with less than 300 MW of individual capacity would be shut down in "about three years."[2] If the operators followed through with the plan, only the 48 MW Unit 3 would remain at the power plant.

In September 2023, Shandong Provincial Energy Bureau announced 25 MW Unit 1 and 48 MW Unit 3 were retired.[3][4]
