Mining Enterprise No. 3

The Mining Enterprise No. 3 (ME-3) is a Burmese government owned agency which, according to the Ministry of Energy is "responsible for production of coal".[1]

Coal mining operations

ME-3 has an involvement in the:

  • Kalewa coal mine in Sagaing near Kalewa, which the U.S. Geological Survey stated had an annual production capacity of 13,000 tonnes in 2009. The mine is owned and operated by ME-3.[2]; and
  • Lweje coal mine near Moemauk in Kachin state is operated by ME-3, Ayeyarwaddy Myitpyar and the Bamboo Result Co. Ltd..[3]
