Background

The two existing coal-fired units of Meizhou Wan power station, totaling 786 MW, were brought online in 2001. The plant is owned by SDIC and Genting Group.[2][3]

Description of Expansion

SDIC is currently building two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW.[1] The new units are scheduled to be completed in 2017.[4]

One of the units was commissioned in July 2017.[5] The other unit was commissioned in September 2017.[6]
