Meizhouwan power station (国投云顶湄洲湾电厂) is an operating power station of at least 2786-megawatts (MW) in Dongbu Town, Xiuyu, Putian, Fujian, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating.

Background
The two existing coal-fired units of Meizhou Wan power station, totaling 786 MW, were brought online in 2001. The plant is owned by SDIC and Genting Group.[8][9]
Description of Expansion
SDIC is currently building two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW.[7] The new units are scheduled to be completed in 2017.[10]
One of the units was commissioned in July 2017.[11] The other unit was commissioned in September 2017.[12]
Phase III Units 5 & 6
In 2024, Phase III project received its environmental impact assessment and proceeded with EPC bidding.[13][14] The EPC contract was signed in early 2025, followed by major equipment tenders and main construction commencement in July 2025.[15][16] Unit 5's construction was ongoing through 2026, with milestones including the completion of the chimney and boiler girder hoisting.[17][18]
Unit 6's construction also progressed in 2025, with the first boiler steel structure hoisting completed in October.[19] In May 2026, the boiler girders for Unit 6 were hoisted.[20]
Replacement Units R1 & R2
In early 2026, a feasibility study was awarded for a project to retire the existing Phase I units and replace them with two new 660MW units.[21]
