Background

Nordic Skangas LNG Terminal is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction terminal in Tananger Village, Stavanger, Norway.

The terminal was proposed as early as July 2007, when Lyse Gass and Skaugen established the joint venture Nordic LNG to provide small-scale LNG supply to Scandinavian and Northern European countries. This continued to be discussed on the Skangass website in April 2010.[4]

Construction was slated to begin after summer 2007, so it is presumed to have begun in September 2007.[5] This is also presumed to be the approximate final investment decision date.

The terminal was completed in 2010. In April 2016, Skangas, a subsidiary of Finland's Gasum, bought the plant from the Lyse Group.[6][7][8]

In October 2018, Gasum increased its ownership of Skangas from 70% to 100%, and Skangas was renamed to Gasum.[9]
