Background

The terminal would have had a capacity of 3 million tonnes per year (mtpa). The terminal could have been potentially expanded by adding more LNG regasification trains and LNG storage to meet future demands in the East Java region.

In 2017 it was reported that the project included the conversion of an LNG carrier into a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU), which would be permanently moored off the shore of East Java.

There have been no development updates in over four years, and the project is presumed to be cancelled as of 2021.
