Puqi Xianning power station (华润电力湖北公司蒲圻发电厂) is an operating power station of at least 2660-megawatts (MW) in Chibi City, Chibi, Xianning, Hubei, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as Puqi (Wuhan) power station.

Background
Puqi Xianning power station is a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 2,660 MW in Hubei Province. The first two units, totaling 660 MW, were completed in 2004. Units 3 & 4, totaling 2,000 MW, were completed in 2012-13. The plant is owned by China Resources.[3]
One 1,000 MW was listed in the province's 14th Five-Year-Plan in early 2022.[4] However, based on February 2022 reporting, two 1,000 MW units were actually under consideration (Phase III).[5]
In February 2022, it was reported that the third phase (2 x 1,000 MW units) of the power project had broken ground[6] and the first pot of concrete was poured into the foundation on 31 May 2023[7][8].
In June 2023, bidding was underway for EPC and equipments for the two new ultra-supercritical units.[9][10][11]
In July 2023, further reports of the project's biddings announced that Hunan Industrial Equipment Installation Company was the winning bidder for the main installation.[12][13]
On 3 September 2025, the first unit of Phase III, Unit 5, started commercial operation[14]. Ignition and pipe blowing of the second unit, Unit 6, was completed on 23 August 2025[15], meaning it would enter operation shortly.
