Background
The Rabak Cement Plant is among the oldest cement plants in Sudan, founded originally in the 1960s.[3] It was privatized in the early 2000s and experienced labor disputes over production cuts.[4] In 2026, the local governor announced efforts to find a path towards reopening the plant.[5]
