Background

The Laiwu Steel Plant was first built in 1970. The Laiwu Steel Group Corporation was later established in 1999 with registered capital of 5 billion yuan. In 2008, Shandong Iron and Steel underwent integration and reorganization, and Laiwu Steel Group became a subordinate enterprise of Shandong Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd.[2] Laiwu Steel Group is the largest and most comprehensive H-beam production base in China.[3] Laiwu Steel's ongoing capacity replacement project includes two new 3800m³ blast furnaces, three 100-ton converters, and two 120-ton converters. [4][5][6]

The construction of 2# 3800m³Blast Furnace of capacity replacement project began on February 19, 2021.[7]
