Background

Siping-1

Siping-1 power station, originally a joint venture between Chueng Kong Infrastructure and CPI, is a three-unit 200 MW power station that went into operation in 1996 to 1999.[1]

Siping-2

Siping-2 power station is a 2 x 350 MW coal plant under development near Siping-1. Unit 1 began construction in 2008, was permitted in 2009, completed the trial operation in 2010, but was not put into commercial operation until 2013.[2]

As of 2015 Unit 2 is still seeking environmental clearance.[3] In 2021, the proposed unit was listed in Jilin Province's 14th Five Year Plan (2021-2025).

As of June 2022, the new 350 MW same-capacity replacement unit was planned to begin construction by May 2023, and the three oldest units were expected to retire before then.[4]

Ownership

In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[5]
