Background

The plant was originally built in 1937, and now is owned by China Datang. Units 1-9 have been retired. Units 10-12 were completed between 1982 and 1988. Units 10-11 (100 MW each) were retired in 2007. Only the 200 MW unit 12 is operating. The unit was upgraded in 2010 into co-generating unit, supplying heat in winter to the city of Zhangjiakou.

Two new 50 MW units were permitted for construction in April 2021. Once commissioned, the 200 MW unit would be retired.

In 2023, with two years since any known update, Unit 13 and Unit 14 were presumed to be shelved.
