Yongchuan Songgai power station (重庆西彭开发投资重庆松溉发电厂) is a power station in Songgai Town, Yongchuan, Chongqing, China with multiple units of varying statuses none of which are currently operating. It is also known as Yongchuan-3 power station (Unit 1, Unit 2), 天泰铝业自备电厂 (Unit 1, Unit 2).

Background
Yongchuan-3 power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 270 MW. The plant was completed in 2008, and was originally owned by CPI.[1][2] [3] Chongqing Aluminum Industry Development Investment Co joined the ownership in May 2018.
The two units were retired in 2020.[4]
Expansion
CPI is seeking permitting for a 2 x 350 MW supercritical coal plant at the power station.[5]
As of April 2021 there have been no further activities on the expansion. It is apparently cancelled.
2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity
Due to new restrictions announced in 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled. For details, see China's 2016 Restrictions on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity.
Ownership
In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[6]
