Background
First concrete poured on August 23, 2023, marking the official construction start of the SPIC Guizhou Jinyuan Zhijin 2×660MW 'large-to-small' relocation modification project[6]. Major milestones followed quickly, including boiler steel framework installations in late 2023, chimney foundation pours in January 2024, and turbine base concrete casting in June 2024[7][8]. The 240-meter chimney structure and cooling towers were successfully topped out by late 2024, leading to successful boiler hydraulic pressure tests for Unit 1 in December 2024 and Unit 2 in March 2025[9][10].
Following subsequent steam blows, trial whole-set runs, and grid connection tests through early 2025, Unit 1 successfully completed its mandatory 168-hour full-load operational trial run on August 5, 2025[11], and Unit 2 completed its 168-hour full-load run on August 26, 2025, bringing both units into active commercial operation[12].
