Shanghai Meishan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (上海梅山钢铁股份有限公司), also known as Shanghai Meishan Metallurgical Company, is a 7600 thousand tonnes per annum (TTPA) blast furnace (BF) and basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steel plant operating in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.
Location
The map below shows the location of the steel plant in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.
- Location: Yuhuatai District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province[1]
- Coordinates (WGS 84): 31.902969, 118.61667 (exact)
Background
In 2018, it was announced that the Meishan Iron and Steel base's production capacity will be transferred out of Nanjing within ten years and to the coastal city of Yancheng, which is also located in Jiangsu Province. On November 30, 2018, the municipal government of Yancheng and China Baowu signed a cooperation agreement to build a 20 million-ton "green, smart, high-quality" steel production base in Yancheng Binhai Port Industrial Park. The capacity for the new steel production base in Yancheng will be partially supplied from the Meishan Iron and Steel base.[2]
