Background
The 6 of October power plant is an operating 1518.7MW station, owned by Cairo Electricity Production Company and located in Sheikh Zayed City, Giza, around 25 km from Cairo, Egypt. The first phase of the power station is a simple cycle power generation project. It consists of four indoor gas turbines with 600 MW which got commissioned in 2012.[9] The second phase is a combined cycle power generation project with a total capacity of 918 MW and got commissioned in two stages, starting with 600MW in 2015 and adding 318.7MW in 2019.
