Background
The Abasto II power station was one of 29 new power plant projects totalling 3340 MW approved as part of Argentina's TERCONF program in November 2023 under the government of Alberto Fernández.[13][14] However, on July 8, 2024 the entire TerCONF block of projects was shelved, when Argentina's Secretary of Energy issued resolution 151 / 2024 under the new government of President Javier Milei.[15][16] As of July 2026, two years had passed without further news, and the project was presumed to be cancelled.
