Background
The Abasto I power station was one of 29 new power plant projects totalling 3340 MW approved as part of Argentina's TERCONF program in November 2023 under the government of Alberto Fernández.[13][14] However, on July 8, 2024 the entire TerCONF block of projects was shelved, when Argentina's Secretary of Energy issued resolution 151 / 2024 under the new government of President Javier Milei.[15][16] As of July 2026, two years had passed without further news, and the project was presumed to be cancelled.
