Adam Victor is a New York City entrepreneur. In an interview with New York Magazine Victor stated that he was worth about "a hundred million" which he said was earned from building a power plant for Syracuse University.
He is the proponent of the Scriba Coal Gasification Plant which would consume more than 20,000 tons of coal per day, making it one of the largest coal gasification plants in the world. Victor has spent $60,000 on a local advertising campaign to promote coal gasification.
Asked why he wanted to build another power station he said "It would be worth billions. Yes, I could retire. I have hobbies—weightlifting, judo, harness racing. We own 110 horses. But I don’t believe in retirement. I’m the best power-plant developer. Why does Bill Gates develop new products?" However, he conceded that there was no groundswell of public support for the proposal: "power plants are not sexy."
