Background

Afferde power station was commissioned in 1957 by E.On Westfalen Weser Ag.[1] It may have been converted to the biomass-fueled Enertec Hameln power station.

The coal-fired power station reportedly began conversion to burn waste biomass in 1977, though the date on which conversion was completed could not be confirmed.[2]
