Background

The Ahvaz–Rey (Tehran) crude oil transmission system is one of Iran’s main northbound trunk corridors for moving crude out of Khuzestan (Ahvaz/North Dezful area) toward the Rey/Tehran refining and storage hub and onward distribution. In OPEC pipeline tables, the Ahvaz/Rey connection is listed as a major crude line with a length on the order of ~469 miles (~755 km) (with a multi-diameter configuration reported as 16/20/16 inches). In recent development framing, the corridor is closely tied to the Sabzab–Rey sour crude project managed under Iran’s pipeline/EPC ecosystem: NIOEC describes a ~620 km system designed to move ~450,000 bpd of sour crude from the North Dezful area via a chain of transfer centers (e.g., Sabzab → Tang-e Fani → Shazand → Rey) to supply refineries including Tehran (Rey) and Arak (Shazand).
