Background
The Al Qa'im Cement Plant is located near the western border with Syria, and was significantly damaged during the conflict with ISIS in the area. In 2023, it was reopened after a period of construction led by the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Al Maysara Group.[3] It has a total capacity of 1 million tonnes of cement annually, and in 2025 reportedly produced nearly 840 thousand tonnes.[4][5]
