Background

The Anhui Xinyuan power station was founded in 1987. The original two 25MW units were commissioned in 1989.

The plant went into operation between August and October 1991. However, due to a weak market, the heat load never reached a reasonable scale, which seriously affected the efficiency of the cogeneration unit. Therefore, in 1994, a low-pressure power generator was added, and integrated with unit 2, forming a 55MW unit through the system connection. This project was completed in 1996, and increased the total capacity of Xinyuan power station to 80MW.[1] [2]

According to the CHP Development Plan of City of Bengbu, this public utility will be relocated, with a new capacity of 15MW and 12MW. The timing and location, however, is yet to be determined.[1]
