Background

The Al Burj Cement Plant opened under Arab Union Contracting Company in 2005, with two production lines and a total capacity of 1.4 million tonnes of cement annually. The plant has experienced multiple shutdowns since, including most recently in 2024, but as of October 2025 was again soliciting cement orders.
