Athena Chhattisgarh Power Ltd states on its website that it is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the development of a 1200 megawatt coal-fired power station in Janjgir-Champa District in the State of Chhattisgarh, India.[1] (See Athena Chhattisgarh power station for details on the proposed plant.

The company states that "Athena Energy Ventures Pvt Ltd (AEVPL) is a Joint Venture (JV) comprising of Athena Projects Private Limited, PTC India Limited and Infrastructure Development Finance Company Limited. AEVPL’s promoters, who are leading organisations in their respective businesses, provide it with a unique combination of capabilities. AEVPL has been formed with the objective of developing power projects (generation, transmission and distribution) and associated infrastructure. AEVPL, pursues its business objectives through project specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV). AEVPL is making significant strides towards achieving its vision and is now providing project development support and equity investment in a portfolio of power generation projects that will have a cumulative capacity of about 9,200 MW."[2]
