Background

The project has been announced to be frozen until 2021 in 2015.[12] There have been no updates since 2021. The project was not included in the scheme and program for the development of the Unified Energy System of Russia for 2022-2028[13] or the Russian Ministry of Energy 2023-2028 energy program issued in February 2023.[14] As of November 2023, the project is considered shelved. In September 2023, En+ Group had to abandon another modernization project, which aimed to increase the installed capacity of the power station by 60 MW. The cancellation was attributed to the escalated project costs.[15]
