Background
In August 2025, Afghanistan’s state-run power company, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), announced plans for a 160 MW coal-fired power station in the Baghlan province. DABs reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Türkiye’s 77 INSAAT construction company and Afghan company Zularistan Ltd. to build the proposed power station in the “Ghaza Gul” [Google Translate] area.[1][2][3]
